Safeguarding and Management Consultant

Maighread is an external consultant who will undertake investigations. She offers independent, impartial advice and expertise to companies which can include but is not limited to; sitting on interview boards, carrying out safeguarding investigations, reviewing of documentation, report writing, auditing of services, writing organisational policies and procedures, risk assessments and quality assurance.

  • QQI Level 6 Special Purpose Award in Training & Development 2020
  • Level 7 Certificate in Safety, Health & Welfare at Work from University College Dublin, 2009
  • Bachelor of Science in Health Service Management from Dublin Institute of Technology, 2004
  • Certificates in Office Management Skills, Care Practice and Disability Studies

The Potential of Social Enterprises to Support People with Intellectual Disabilities to Overcome Barriers to Employment.

Published in O'Brion, D. & Hyland, M. (2014) "Innovation in the Social Economy", Glasnevin Publishing, Dublin. The research study demonstrated that social enterprises that have been designed specifically to support people with intellectual disabilities have more potential to support their employees to overcome the barriers to employment. The findings also warn of the dangers of establishing social enterprises which are nothing more than a modern version of the segregated sector of sheltered workshops and job enclaves.
